DERMAPEN OR MICRONEEDLING PEN

DermaPen, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a specialized regenerating treatment that safely penetrates the deeper layers of skin, aiding in repair and rejuvenation. Based on acupuncture, and using multiple needles that differ in size, Dermapen kick starts the body’s natural wound healing response underneath the layers of the skin.

This results in the production and distribution of new collagen to help strengthen, thicken and smooth your skin.

The procedure has been performed for many years and has been proven to treat several skin conditions and problems including smoothing wrinkles and lines and improving skin texture, scarring, and stretch marks.

The face is a common area for Skin Needling treatment; however, other areas of the body such as the hands, neck, back and chest can be treated just as successfully, with great results.

How it works

The key to more radiant skin is collagen production.

Micro-needling works by using tiny needles to create small perforations, or ‘micro-channels’ in the skin. This stimulates the healing response of the deeper layers and encourages your skin to make new, collagen-rich tissue.

The micro-channels created during the treatment allow active ingredients from your skincare products to penetrate to the deepest layers of the skin to deliver even more powerful results. Our micro-needling device, available at select clinics, works at such a high speed you do not need anaesthetic cream before treatment.

Micro-needling FAQs

Can micro-needling reduce stretch marks on the body?

Yes. Micro-needling effectively helps to build the tissue within the stretch marks though the production of collagen. This builds up the indentation and reduces the color of the stretch marks, in some cases making them disappear completely.

How long are the micro-needling treatments and what is the downtime?

Total treatment time is 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area and there is little to no downtime. Slight redness and warmth to the skin may be experienced after your session, and dryness can be experienced a few days post-treatment.

How does micro-needling differ from fractional RF?

Both treatments address concerns of loose creepy skin, scars, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars, open pores. However, if you are looking for a more targeted treatment, Fractional RF is best for overall appearance and general redness while Nano-pore micro-needling is best for darker skin tones and pigmentation or sun damage. As always we strongly recommend that you take advantage of our free consultations so that our technicians can help you select the best treatment suited to your wants and needs.

Can micro-needling treat the delicate dark circles under the eyes?

Only the Nano-pore micro-needling device can treat the eye contour. Unlike other types of micro-needling devices, Nano-pore is one of the first treatments of its kind that can target the more sensitive areas around the eye thanks to its adjustable needle depth and increased oscillation (speed). The result for the eye contour is a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, along with a healthier, tighter-looking appearance.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required will depend on your individual requirements and this will be discussed during your initial consultation. Typically, we recommend a treatment course of 3-6 sessions, at monthly intervals.
